Mobilization of donors and the private sector for the financing of priority projects of the CACAO master plan

The UEMOA Commission conducted an advocacy mission from October 24 to 26, 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire with Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs) and the private sector to mobilize all stakeholders in the context of financing priority projects of the Master Plan for the Development of Corridors for the Growth Ring in West Africa (CACAO). The advocacy meeting of October 25, 2023 was effectively attended by resident representatives of UEMOA and JICA Côte d’Ivoire, TFPs, private sector groups and technical ministries associated with the master plan, under the chairmanship of the Director of Cabinet of the Minister of Economy, Planning and Development of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.

This meeting is considered the preparatory meeting for the round table for mobilizing financing, scheduled for February 2024 in Abidjan. The said round table will bring together all the countries concerned by the WAC, in particular: Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso and Benin. UEMOA congratulated the Ivorian government for the high rate of preparation of the feasibility study using their own funds. The TFPs also shared their observations on high priority projects by presenting their ongoing projects relating to the issue of regional integration.
The fruitful discussions that followed indicated the need to increase dialogue between stakeholders with particular emphasis on the involvement of the private sector.

UEMOA and the Ivorian government in partnership with JICA, took note of the interventions of the participants to properly prepare the Round Table in February 2024.
